2020 iPhone Design Might Include New iPhone 4-Like Metal Frame

A 2020 iPhone design change is expected, and according to new bits of information, Apple might incorporate a new metal frame on next year’s models. The metal frame is supposed to resemble what was present on the iPhone 4, and it might boost the appearance of the upcoming devices as well. Additionally, the 2020 iPhone models have rumored to ship with significant upgrades, so they might become a worthy purchase for future customers.

Report Claims the Design Change Is Expected to Be a Major Selling-Point When Apple Unveils New Handsets Next Year

According to a research note from Ming-Chi Kuo, which was spotted by MacRumors, the analyst states that the 2020 iPhone design change will be apparent to the point where these models are expected to become a major selling point for Apple. The new metal frame that we mentioned earlier; it’s expected to sport a more a ‘more complex segmentation design, new trenching and injection molding procedures, and sapphire or glass cover assembly to protect the trench injection molding structure’.

The surface of the metal frame will be similar to what the iPhone 4 featured, and it looks like it will be altered slightly. Kuo thinks that this new iPhone 2020 design will also help to improve the transmission efficiency of the internal antenna, resulting in better cellular performance and reliability of the device. However, this might come at a price.

Kuo predicts that the cost of the metal frame and glass case will rise significantly. The metal frame could carry an additional 50-60 percent increase, while the glass casing might increase by 40-50 percent. However, if a different material such as tempered glass is used, the TF International Securities analyst predicts that each unit of the metal middle frame and chassis could increase by about 25-35 percent and 20-30 percent, respectively.

This isn’t the only prediction he made. Earlier, Kuo stated that in addition to an upgraded 2020 iPhone design, customers might see more potential in picking one of these up. Why might you ask? The devices are expected to come with 5G connectivity support, along with improved cameras. 2020 might also be the year when Apple focuses on an ‘all OLED future’, where all three models could sport an advanced screen, so if you’re still deciding whether or not you’ll upgrade this year, you might want to hold onto your money for now.
